Biography
The son of an Army officer, Boenigk was born on 25 August 1893. He was wounded twice in the infantry before being accepted into the Air Service in December 1915. By October 1918, he has scored 26 victories and was Knighted in the Prussian Order of St. John. During World War Two, he was in the Luftwaffe and rose to the rank of Major-General. He was captured by the Russians and died in a prison camp in 1946.
